Is media in a hurry to declare Jayalalithaa dead?

Thus, as soon as a few television channels started airing the news of the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday, almost every news website picked up the story.

Nobody bothered to wait for any official confirmation.

However, Apollo Hospitals, where the 68-year-old AIADMK supremo is undergoing treatment since September 22, said that the reports were "wrong".

Even #RIPAmma and #RIPJayalalithaa trended on Twitter after TV channels broke the false report.

Later on, many slammed the media for spreading rumours on Jayalalithaa's health.
