Is media in a hurry to declare Jayalalithaa dead?
Chennai, Dec 5: In the world of 24X7 breaking news, every second counts.
And, we can tell you it is pretty competitive.
Thus, as soon as a few television channels started airing the news of the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday, almost every news website picked up the story.
Nobody bothered to wait for any official confirmation.
However, Apollo Hospitals, where the 68-year-old AIADMK supremo is undergoing treatment since September 22, said that the reports were "wrong".
Even #RIPAmma and #RIPJayalalithaa trended on Twitter after TV channels broke the false report.
Those panning media for Amma reports should be reminded half of journalism wouldn't be possible without unquoted sources. #RIPAmma— Samrat Chowdhery (@samrat) December 5, 2016
