A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly duping 15 women on the pretext of marrying them and later threatening them by saying that he would post their obscene videos if they do not give him money.

According to the police, Sameer Garg was inspired by Ranveer Singh starrer Bollywood film Ladies Vs Ricky Behl. He has been cheating women since 2011.

Police said the man has cheated close to 15 women in their 30s of more than Rs 50 lakh over the last one year.

On September 5, a woman's brother approached the police with a complaint that his sister was missing along with her minor son. He told the police that his sister is a 42-year-old divorcee with a 12-year-old son and had been missing since September 3.

He informed the police that his sister had uploaded her profile on a matrimonial site and had come in contact with one Yogesh alias Sameer Garg through the website. He expressed suspicion about Garg's hand in the disappearance of his sister and son.

A trap was laid and the accused was arrested. After his arrest police were able to rescue a woman along with her 12-year-old son. According to the victim, the accused had taken the woman to Vaishno Devi on the pretext of mariage and then later to Goa on the pretext of making her meet his parents.

The woman, who works as a teacher, told police that he had been extracting money from her and had taken Rs 3 lakh from her. He had also established a physical relation with her.
