Indian prisoner Kishore Bhagwan found dead in Pak jail
According to a news report, Kishore's body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
Last year, in February, Kishore managed to escape from jail when he was taken outside to do manual labour, but he was re-arrested after 10-month long search in December from the PIB colony in Karachi.
Kishore's body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
Kishore Bhagwan, was first arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) along with other fishermen and was sent to the Landhi jail for allegedly entering Pakistan's exclusive economic zone without legal documents.
Indian diplomatic sources said they are yet to hear from Pakistani officials on the matter.
Incidentally, the body of another Indian fisherman Bhikha Lakha Shiyal, 35, who died in December, is yet to be handed over to Indian authorities.
"We are likely to receive the body (of Shiyal) soon. We would be making arrangement for the mortal remains to be sent back," an Indian diplomat said.
The Indian government had approached the Pakistani authorities to speed up the process to bring back Shiyal's body. Shiyal died on December 19 in a Karachi jail and the reason of his death was also yet to be ascertained. His body is kept in a morgue.
Another Indian convict Sarabjit Singh was brutally beaten up by inmates in Kot Lakhpat jail in April last year. He succumbed to injuries on May 2 while undergoing treatment at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan.
