Indian consul general in Dubai said that job-seekers must get their employment offers authenticated and ensure that they have entry permit visas before leaving for UAE, TOI reported.

Consul general Vipul said there has been a surge in the number of calls they are getting from Indian workers that they were cheated by agents and employers.

Speaking to TOI, Vipul also cited a case involving 27 men from UP, who arrived on visit visa and found themselves cheated. The consulate then had to intervene and send them back home.

He also mentioned a case where a nurse was given the job of a maid.

Asserting that the people should exercise utmost caution before leaving for UAE for a job, he said workers under the Emigration Clearance Required (ECR) are safe to travel if they come under the e-Migrate online recruitment system.
