India seeks deportation of most wanted from UAE

New Delhi, Sept 4: India's external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj has made a strong pitch with the UAE to deport those persons on the wanted list.

India has a list of persons whose deportation requests are pending. Sushma Swaraj who met with Foreign Minister of UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at New Delhi discussed a series of issues which included the rising threat of the ISIS.

During the meet the two sides also signed several MoUs relating to cooperation in several areas including education, scientific research and tourism apart from agreeing to increase bi-lateral trade by 60 per cent in the next 5 years.

Furthering the fight against terror:

During the meet, it was decided that both countries would further cooperation on the war against terror. India informed the UAE that there are several persons taking shelter in the UAE who are on the wanted list prepared by India. Moreover many persons have used UAE as a transit point and hence joint cooperation is required to nab such persons.

UAE agreed to look into the list prepared by India and assured that if prima facie evidence has been made out these persons would be deported to India.

UAE and India also agreed to share real time intelligence on the movement of terrorists. India also informed UAE that real time information would be shared on tracking those who fund terrorism as well.

The fight against the ISIS:

The primary concern that was raised by India was however relating to the growth of the ISIS. Both India and UAE acknowledge this growing threat. UAE in fact also conveyed that it has already started initiating action against ISIS sympathizers.

Only recently the UAE deported two persons of Kerala origin after it was found that they were posting messages on their social media sites in a bid to propagate for the ISIS.
