India is the best model of secularism, says Venkaiah Naidu
Hours ahead of his swearing-in ceremony, Vice-President elect Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said that the agenda of politics should be development, while also adding that India is the best model of secularism.
While addressing media, Naidu said,"India is the most tolerant country...Unfortunately, some people are trying to blow it out of proportion and trying to defame India, raising it to national forum."
He also said,''Unfortunately, now in politics 3 Cs have entered-Cash, Caste & Community; must return to 4 Cs-Character, Caliber, Capacity & Conduct.''
Naidu further said about the cultural diversity that resides in the country and amidst all the vast array of culture we are still one as a nation. He said, "Alag bhaasha alag vesh phir bhi apna ek desh, vividhta mein ekta Bharat ki visheshta."
Naidu's comments came after outgoing Vice-President Hamid Ansari said the Muslims of the country were experiencing a sense of "uneasiness and insecurity."
