India celebrates festivals with myriad hues

Bengaluru, April 15: April 14 was a day of celebration for India, as the people of the country celebrated festivals such as Bohag Bihu in Assam, Poila Boishakh in West Bengal, Vishu in Kerala, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu, Satuani in Bihar and Baisakhi in northern parts of the country.

Odisha, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam celebrated their New Year on April 14 and 15. Known as Pana or Vishuba Sankranti, Vishu, Poila Baishakh and Bihu in the respective states, the day was celebrated by the communities with prayers and events.
