110 Afghan Sikhs, Hindus arrive in Delhi, 3 Swaroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib brought back

New Delhi, Dec 10: A special repatriation flight from Kabul with around 110 people including stranded Indian citizens and distressed Afghan citizens belonging to Hindu and Sikh community arrived in India today. The Sikh delegation along with the Holy Guru Granth Sahib arrived to India from Afghanistan under Operation Devi Shakti.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and BJP chief JP Nadda carried Guru Granth Sahib which has been brought by Sikh delegation from Kabul, Afghanistan this afternoon. The delegation has brought three Guru Granth Sahib with them.

"After their arrival, the distressed bonafide Afghan citizens will be rehabilitated by Sobti Foundation," Puneet Singh Chandhok, president, Indian World Forum said in a statement.

"It is a matter of pride that the 3 holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from historical Gurdwaras in Afghanistan and Hindu religious scriptures including Ramanaya, Mahabharth and Bhagavad Gita from ancient 5th Century Asamai Mandir, Kabul are along being flown," Indian World Forum.

India evacuated a total of 565 people, including 438 Indians, from Afghanistan under 'Operation Devi Shakti' in the wake of the Taliban takeover.

The centre has informed the parliament that a total of 565 people, including 438 Indians, were evacuated from Afghanistan by the government of India under 'Operation Devi Shakti'.

India operated several special Indian Air Force and Air India flights under 'Operation Devi Shakti' to evacuate stranded Indian and Afghan nationals from Afghanistan, from August 16 to 25, 2021.
