Independence Day terror: Kashmir youth with 8 grenades arrested in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 6: A Kashmiri youth has been arrested with explosives while he was coming into New Delhi from Jammu. The youth has been identified as Arfan Wani.
He was arrested with 8 hand grenades in the Gandhi Nagar area. He hails. From Awantipora in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The police say that he was in the national capital to carry out a terror attack ahead of Independence Day. There is already a high alert ahead of August 15.
The police also recovered Rs 60,000 in cash from him. Police sources tell OneIndia, that his questioning revealed that he had planned on hurling grenades at the security forces during Independence Day. It is still not clear which outfit he is from. The alert by the Intelligence Bureau states that attacks in the capital could be carried out by terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad or Lashkar-e-Tayiba.
There is also an alert declared in Jammu and Kashmir which is on the boil over the issue of Article 35A. Kashmir is under a complete lockdown over the issue. Further security agencies have also warned that terrorists would look to take advantage of the situation and strike on Independence Day. The case has now been handed over to the Special Cell of the Delhi police.
