IT department, probe Badal family's assets: Amarinder Singh
Punjab, July 14: Addressing a massive rally in Punjab's Samrala, former chief minister and Congress Deputy leader Amarinder Singh urged the Income Tax departments to take cognisance of Prakash Singh Badal's disproportionate assets. He further claimed that Badal's family property runs in thousands of crores of rupees.
"I am surprised as how Parkash Singh Badal could make such a fortune with just 80 acres of land he inherited from his father sixty years ago," he said
Amarinder compares Bada's situation with a number of farmers who have committed suicide because of shrinking land holdings. He also cites instances of the number of hotels worth 1000 crores, owned by his family, in india and abroad. He also referred to the Rs 60 lakh disbursed to two accident victims who were killed by Badal's car.
"If it is the government's money, why is it being paid for the faults of the Badals' drivers and if it is Badals' money, why Income Tax is not taking any note of it? From where does this money come and where it is accounted for?", asked Amrinder.
Lashing out at Badal's tenure as the CM of the state, Amarinder asked Badal to name at least one achievement or a fulfilled promise in his tenure. "It is the question of the destiny of Punjab which is in your hands and you have to make a careful choice," he further added.
