In this Kerala school, a two uniform rule based on academic skills
A rule in a Kerala school which has two sets of uniforms depending on the child's academic skills has left parents fuming. A private school in Kerala's Malappuram Introduced the uniform code according to which academically sharp students will wear white shirts and tops while the second category of average and under-performing students will wear red check shirts and tops. The rule came into effect from June.
The Al Farooque English medium school in Pandikkad told protesting parents that this would help trigger a healthy competition among the students. With their protests falling on deaf ears, the parents then approached the the Childline. The authorities found this rule discriminatory.
The state education department has sought a report from the district education officer. A Hindustan Times report while quoting the spokesperson of the school said that the new system will be discontinued and action will be initiated against the principal.
