New Delhi, Mar 21: The family of Naveen Shekharappa Gyangoudar, who was killed in shelling in Ukraine's Kharkiv city, paid their last respects at his native place in Haveri, Karnataka. His family had said that his body would be donated to a medical college for research after his last rites are performed.

The family of Naveen Shekharappa Gyangoudar, who was killed in shelling in Ukraine's Kharkiv city, paid their last respects at his native place in Haveri, Karnataka.

Naveen Shekharappa body to be donated to S.S. Medical College of Davanagere
As per Naveen Shekharappa's family's wish, his body will be donated to the S.S. Medical College of Davanagere for medical research. He was a final year MBBS student at Kharkiv National Medical University.
After performing the final rites, the family decided to donate Naveen's body to the S.S. Medical College of Davanagere, Karnataka, his father Shekharappa Gyangoudar told news agency ANI.

Basavaraj Bommai among others paid his last respects
Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai and several others paid their last respects to deceased student. Naveen was killed on March 1 in Kharkiv city of Ukraine.

Bommai thanks Centre
Bommai also thanked the centre for bringing back the mortal remains of Naveen. The Karnataka CM said that it was unfortunate to have lost Naveen in the shelling.
Bommai earlier expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for all the efforts made to bring Naveen's body back from the war torn Ukraine. In a letter to the PM, Bommai had written, "with the effort of your good self, Naveen Shekharappa's mortal remains are coming on Monday."
