Bengaluru, Nov 15: The moon on Monday was closest to Earth since 1948, resulting in the 'supermoon' phenomenon. It was the brightest and largest moon in nearly 70 years.
The Moon was closest - only 221,524 miles (356,509km) away - at 11:21 GMT.
The supermoon was best seen in North America early on Monday. The next chance for seeing a supermoon won't be before Nov 25, 2034, when it will be even closer to Earth.
The supermoon was visible across much of India although residents of New Delhi, struggled to see it clearly through the toxic smog that has been shrouding the city in recent weeks.
