The writing was clear on the wall and Nitish Kumar who entered into an alliance with the RJD in Bihar walked out of it on Wednesday. The hopes of the opposition in India too come crashing down with this development.
The very idea of having a strong grand alliance ahead of the 2019 elections looks shaky with Nitish Kumar walking out of it. Nitish appears to have clearly done his ground work and decided that he wants to be part of the winning side.

Sources say that since the past several months now, he has done a thorough analysis of the scenario and realised that 2019 would see another Modi wave. Moreover staying on with Lalu Prasad Yadav did not appear to have any positives for Nitish Kumar. The corruption case against Tejashwi Yadav only came as a blessing for Nitish who used it as his main weapon to walk out of the alliance.
Nitish had made up his mind several months back. His open praise for the decision on demonetisation when the entire opposition ridiculed it was the first sign of him inching back towards the NDA.
The support he offered to Ram Nath Kovind in the presidential elections was another sign that he was leaning towards the NDA. Call the entire saga in Bihar stage managed or a natural falling out, Nitish has played his cards well by looking into the future.

When Nitish first resigned on Wednesday, there were indications that the BJP would give outside support. However as developments unfolded into the night, the BJP decided that it would be part of the government signaling that Nitish Kumar is officially back with the NDA.
