The Bengaluru police which was seeking a transit remand was taken aback. Finally, it was the Triupura police who showed the relevant documents to the mob. The tension was defused and Miyan's transit remand was granted.

Miyan is the seventh accused in the 2005 IISC case in which one person died. The Bengaluru police say that investigations led them up to Miyan. He had a valid voter's identification card. He is also said to have a close connection to Bangladesh as his grandmother hailed from that country.
