IIIT-Hyderabad working on monitoring poor road conditions in city
The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad is working on putting their emerging technologies to use to solve day-to-day problems which have affected the common man.
The researchers have come up with a plan to solve the problems like water logging and potholes in the city due to incessant rainfall. The roads are filled with potholes and waterlogging after the recent spell in Hyderabad due to which common man has been facing a lot of problems.
According to Dr. C V Jawahar, faculty of IIIT- Hyderabad said,''the research students have recently started a project where they will experiment the road conditions by installing cameras in cars. These cameras will take videos of the road and by using the algorithm they will be able to detect how bad is the condition of potholes and waterlogging.
The Institute is currently in talks with the state government and has got a positive response for the project. Jawahar also said that the technology can also work for ride-hailing companies like Uber and Ola to detect driver performance.
