IB, Navy, Coast Guard to probe killing of Indian fisherman by Pakistan

New Delhi, Sep 19: The Navy, Coast Guard and the Intelligence Bureau will jointly probe the incident in which an Indian fishing boat was fired upon by Pakistan.

The probe will be conducted by all the three wings with a view of ascertaining the role by Pakistan in this untoward incident.

India to probe fisherman killing by Pak

On Friday, an Indian fisherman was killed when his trawler was fired upon near the International Maritime Bounday between India and Pakistan.

The incident occurred 100 nautical miles off the Okha coast in Gujarat. According to preliminary investigations the trawler was fired upon at 9 am on Friday.

The Navy, Coast Guard and the Intelligence Bureau which will probe the incident will ascertain the cause behind the firing.

Sources in the Intelligence Bureau say that the firing was unwarranted and there was no provocation.

Moreover, the source also confirmed that the trawler had not drifted out of Indian waters and neither was there any illegal activity which warranted the unprovoked firing.
