I would have ordered shooting of MLAs if I were home minister says Karnataka BJP leader
Bengaluru, July 27: A senior BJP MLA has courted controversy after he said that had been the home minister, he would have ordered shooting of all intellectuals. Addressing the Kargil Vijay Diwas function at Vijaypura, Karnataka, Bansanagouda Patil Yatnal said intellectuals and liberals are anti nationals.
While blaming Jawaharlal Nehru for the Kashmir problem, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would scrap Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The ruling JD(S) and Congress have demanded immediate action against the MLA. Yatnal was the minister of state for Textiles and Railways under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government between 2002 and 2004. In 2010 he had quit the BJP and joined the JD(S). He has been a controversial figure and a month back he had told the local BJP municipal members not to help Muslims.
