Hyderabad: Conman speeds away with Rs 6 lakh Harley Davidson on pretext of 'test drive'
Hyderabad, Sept 2: In a broad-day light robbery, a conman rode away with a Harley Davidson bike worth Rs 6 lakh, on the pretext of 'test drive' in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Sept 1.
According to reports, the shocking incident happened in Banjara Hills, when a man named Tahir Ali, in his 30s, visited a bike showroom around 3 pm. He introduced himself as a software professional.
Banjara Hills police station sub-inspector Santosh said that Tahir filled the proforma for a test-drive and took away the 750 cc Harley Davidson -- Street 750 model motorbike.
The bike showroom has a particular route for test drive, but the man took another route and sped away.
As the man failed to return, a complaint was filed against him. A case under Sections 379 (theft) and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It has been learnt that Tahir was reportedly wearing a cream-coloured shirt, jeans and a cap.
Police also said that Tahir mentioned fake mobile number and fake email id in the proforma. Police is investigating the CCTV footage, to trace the man.
