Hyderabad: Key accused in Sai Baba temple blast arrested

Muzabir a suspected Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative who channelised funds was produced before a local court before being remanded in custody for 14 days. He was shifted to the Cherlapally Central Prison.

Sources say that he played a key role in the blast that took place outside the Saibaba temple in 2002. He is alleged to have funded the entire operation. Following the blast he fled India after which a red corner notice was issued. He was arrested by the Interpol following which the Ministry of Home Affairs was notified.

It may be recalled that terrorists had planted a bomb on a scooter outside the Sai Baba temple. Another bomb had been placed a few metres away. The first bomb killed a couple, but the second one did not explode.

The Indian Mujahideen too had in 2013 targeted Dilsukhnagar. The original plan was to place the bomb outside the temple, but owing to a high profile visit by the Commissioner of Police, the bomb was placed away from the temple. Several persons died in the blast.
