Hotels, malls told to beef up security ahead of festive season
Chennai, Nov 2: Ahead of the festive season, top police officials today directed five star hoteliers and shopping mall owners to take up security measures in order to prevent any untoward incident.
Chaired by Chennai City Police Commissioner T K Rajendran a meeting with officials of star hotel owners and representatives of shopping malls was held here today, a police press release said.
Stating that people may tend to visit shopping malls in large numbers for the festive season, police directed owners of five star hotels and shopping malls to undertake preventive mechanisms like installing high end surveillance cameras and appoint security personnel, among other measures.
They were directed to have 24 hour surveillance control room and to contact the respective police stations if any suspicious object was found in their premises.
Regular inspections would be undertaken by police to ensure the hoteliers and shopping mall followed the instructions, it said.
