Horse Shaktiman’s death: U’khand govt withdraws case against BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi
The Uttarakhand government has withdrawn a case against Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Ganesh Joshi and others after police horse Shaktiman was injured during a BJP protest near the assembly building on March 14, 2016.
The 14-year-old Shaktiman, who was beaten up by Joshi during a BJP rally on March 14, 2016, suffered multiple fractures and was fitted with a prosthetic leg. However, the horse died on April 20, 2016. The horse had served in the police force for 10 years.
A case was registered against MLA Joshi and his supporters under the Cruelty to Animals Act after which he was arrested. A day later the MLA was granted bail on March 22.
The move, however, has not gone down well with the state Congress leaders, who said the BJP government was protecting its leaders from punishment.
