New Delhi, Apr 4: A day after a report by Pew Research Center's data on religious profile predictions claimed that India will be home to largest Muslim population by 2050, the hard wing Hindu organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has reiterated that Hindus must produce more kids and claimed that a Hindu parents alone can't decide on how many kids they must produce.

Family planning not personal matter: VHP

The Hindu fundamentalist group vowed to continue its 'Ghar Wapsi' programme whether the Narendra Modi-led government likes it or not.

As per the VHP if Hindus remain stuck to one child per family policy then one day Muslim population will surpass them. The right wing organisation claimed that Hindu parents had no right to decide how many kids they should produce in fact it is the responsibility of the country to check the demographic imbalance.

International General Secretary of VHP Champat Rai was quoted by TOI as saying, "It's not a decision restricted to a couple. Or else the country would not have been divided. Across the world, wherever there is a demographic imbalance, governments give incentive to citizens to reproduce more."

Reacting to the Pew Research Centre's study, Rai said, "If Hindus are going to remain happy with just one child, this is what is going to happen. You want your salaries to increase from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000, but don't want to have more children as that would mean more spending."

Rai further added that the organisation will continue its reconversion (Ghar Wapsi) programme whether the BJP-led government at Centre likes it or not.

Targetting the West Bengal government for banning entry of its leader Praveen Togadia Rai said it it is nothing but Mamata Government's appeasement of vote bank. Hindus in the state are growing significantly and that is why the government there is acting this way.

According to the Pew Research Center's religious profile predictions assessed data released on Thursday, the Hindu population is projected to rise by 34 per cent worldwide, from a little over 1 billion to nearly 1.4 billion by 2050.

By 2050, Hindus will be third, making up 14.9 per cent of the world's total population, followed by people who do not affiliate with any religion, accounting for 13.2 per cent, the report said.

The people with no religious affiliation currently have the third largest share of the world's total population. Muslims are projected to grow faster than the world's overall population and that Hindus and Christians are projected to roughly keep pace with worldwide population growth, the report said.
