Sooraj Pancholi approaches HC for passport; sites foreign assignment
Mumbai, March 9: Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi has appealed to the Bombay High Court to return his passport for a foreign assignment.
Justice Mridula Bhatkar has issued a notice to CBI, which is probing the case against Sooraj for abetting the suicide of actress Jiah Khan.
Bhatkar has asked CBI to repond to the plea. The court meanwhile has scheduled the matter for further hearing. Sooraj justified that he has to travel abroad for work and he needed his passport for the same. The passport had been seized by the investigating agency as a condition for his bail. Pancholi ensured that he would return it to the authorities once he is back.
Pancholi has been accused of abetting the suicide of actress Jiah Khan who had a relationship with him. However, as per Jiah's mother Rabia, this was not suicide but murder. She also alleged that the CBI has failed to investigate the case.
Following this, she sought court's orders to appoint a special investigation team to further probe the case.
