Heavy rain and strong winds were reported from areas including Saroornagar, Himayath Nagar, Baghlingampally, Ram Nagar and other areas. Barkas, Chandrayangutta, Baba Nagar and Errakunta areas too reported heavy rains. At some places, knee-deep water was accumulated.

The sudden downpour also brought down the traffic to a grinding halt with many commuters parking their vehicles under flyovers and shades to protect themselves from hailstorm and gusty winds. Despite this, the Telangana government has issued a heatwave warning in all districts for Thursday and Friday.

The day began on a scorching note as the maximum day temperature recorded was 40.5° C. However, in the evening, a thunderstorm with gusty wind with a speed above 30 kmph and heavy rain pounded the city.

According to the Skymet weather, these rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal. A trough is also running from this circulation till Tamil Nadu across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

As per weathermen, these pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers are likely to subside after 48 hours but on and off rains and thundershowers would continue.
