'Haven't taken money from Vijaya Bhaskar', says Jayalalithaa's doctor

Dr Balaji, one of the doctors who treated late chief minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday denied taking any money from her party members. In a press release, Dr Balaji claimed that Tamil Nadu health minister Vijaya Bhaskar did not give him Rs 5 lakh as alleged by many. Documents unearthed by the Income tax department allegedly showed details of Vijaya Bhaskar giving Rs 5 lakh to Dr Balaji.

"It has been reported by the media that the health minister gave Rs 5 lakh via his personal assistant and I had settled the hotel bills. I would like to refute the baseless false news. I affirm that I have not received any money either as a fee or otherwise as alleged," Dr Balaji said in a press release. Media reports from Tamil Nadu claimed that Dr Balaji was given money by Vijaya Bhaskar to obtain Jayalalithaa's fingerprints.

Section of the media had also claimed that the doctor in an interview to a media outlet had accepted he received money from Vijaya Bhaskar. The same has ben refuted by the doctor in Tuesday's press release. His name had appeared in a document said to have been recovered during raids at Vijaya Bhaskar's residence with a payment of Rs 5 lakh against it.
