Haryana teen's invention is Asia's sole entry to Google Science Fair
New Delhi, Sept 19: A 16-year-old boy from Panipat in Haryana is making headlines for a device he invented. And guess what - His invention is the only entry from Asia in the 15 global finalists at the Google Science Fair 2014 !

The Google Science Fair is a global online science and technology competition for youngsters aged between 13 to 18.

Arsh Shah Dilbagi developed an 'augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)' device called 'Talk', which can be used by people with developmental and communication disabilities. The light-weight device which can run for 2 days on a single charge is pocket-friendly too.

While most AAC devices available currently are very expensive, Dilbagi's creation can be bought at a price less than $100 (Rs 6000).

Dilbagi is a Class XII student who considers Apple co-founder Steve Jobs as his inspiration. He looks up to Jobs for "combining technology with art and envisioning products like no other."

How it works

'Talk' interprets two distinguishable exhales as Morse codes (short exhales are dots and long exhales are dashes) and converts them into words and sentences, said a IBN live report. It comes with 9 voice settings for different genders and age groups and has two modes - one for language communication and the other for command phrases, the report says.
