Kangra, Dec 20: In yet another case of negligence, at least ten people have lost their eyesight after botched-up surgeries in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

According to NDTV report, the eye camp was held at Kandwal village in Nurpur city of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh in March this year. [Punjab govt bans health camps without permission]

Many patients who underwent the surgery complained of eye irritation, but for at least ten people, the surgery became the biggest mistakes of their lives, as they could not see anything, once the bandage was removed, the report said.

One of the victim was quoted saying as, "Earlier I could see little with our eye, but after surgery I can't see anything, I went to so many places for help but nobody would listen to poor people, we want the doctor to be punished."

Himachal Pradesh health department authorities have taken note of the serious incident and will submit a report to the government.

This is not the first time when the so-called doctors have played with the lives of patients.

Early this month, at least 60 people from Amritsar had lost their vision after undergoing eye surgeries at a Mathura-based NGO-sponsored free eye-check-up camp in Gursdaspur district in Punjab.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had ordered a high-level probe into the botched surgeries and had also banned holding of health camps without prior approval of civil surgeons in respective districts.
