The government, however, claimed that the number of new swine flu cases are reducing rapidly while 3,447 swine flu patients have been cured till date. The state health department bulletin said swift action by the state government, including door-to-door surveillance, has helped in containing the spread of H1N1 virus.

Maharashtra has been the worst affected state by the H1N1 influenza virus this year, but the situation in Gujarat was no better. Both the states have witnessed a repeat of the situation in 2015, the worst year since 2009 when a swine flu outbreak was first reported in the country.
