Bengaluru: Govt fails to end logjam, bus strike to continue for third day

Bengaluru, July 26: Reluctance of both state government and unions failed to end the stalemate resulting the strike to continue for the third day.

The government's decision of delegating Transport Minister Rama Linga Reddy to hold talks with union leaders did not go down well with the protesting leaders. The unions expected from the Cabinet meeting, it will resolve to convene a meet of Chief Minister with union leaders.

A union leader said the protest will continue. "Unless the government display concern towards the staff of corporations, we will not withdraw the protest," he informed. He added CM should talk with the union leaders.

Concerned authorities in the state government have spoken to Deputy Commissioners (DC) of the districts regarding declaring holiday. DCs have given free hand to on deciding holiday to schools and colleges.

However, it is learnt that DC from Bengaluru Urban has decided to grant holiday. The schools and colleges of Bengaluru likely to operate on Wednesay.
