New Delhi, May 3: Uttar Pradesh governor and BJP leader Ram Naik has made shocking allegation against actor turned politician Govinda.

Reportedly, Naik has said that actor had taken help of underworld don dawood Ibrahim and builder Hiten Thakur to defeat him in 2004 Lok Sabha election.

Shocking allegations against Govinda

According to a TOI report, Naik who has been a Union minister between 1999 and 2004, made this charge in his memoir, Chaireveti, Chaireveti (Keep Moving).

In the memoir which was relesed last week, he writes how Govinda with the help of Thakur terrorised voters and defeated him from Mumbai north constituency.

Veteran BJP leader Naik further narrates how he felt bad after getting defeated at the hand of Govinda by a margin of 11,000 votes.

He was quoted by a daily as saying, "I have no hesitation in bringing this on record that Govinda had contacts with dons like Dawood and Hiten Thakur, who later became an MLA. He used their muscle power to poll votes against me and in his favour".

Meanwhile, Govinda has rejected the charge and said that he won because people wanted him to win the election.

"By saying such things, does Ram Naik mean that the people of the constituency were sold into the hands of the underworld? Please do not insult anyone by saying such things", Govinda was quoted.
