The New Straits Times' ran a black front cover, with the picture of an aircraft above the words "Goodnight, MH370" - a reference to the last message from the cockpit.
While Malay- and Chinese-language papers too ran front pages with black backgrounds, The Sun, an English-language daily, changed its masthead to black.
On social media sites, many Malaysians turned their profile backgrounds black or displayed a plane icon in tribute to the victims.
It was on Monday the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced that the flight which went missing on March 25, ended in the southern Indian Ocean.
