Good news: India to get 24*7 power helpline soon
New Delhi, May 12: Power Ministry is all set to add another feather in its successful cap by gifting the country a 24-hour pan-India power helpline-- 1921.
The four-digit helpline will enable people to make a call when there are power outages or faulty lines in their areas.
While talking to TOI on Wednesday, Power minister Piyush Goyal was quoted saying as, "We have applied to DoT (department of telecommunications) for allotment of a number. It would be a three or four digit number."
"A complaint number would be generated once a call is made. Everything will go on record... What the consumer said, what reply he received, when the complaint was attended to, the nature of the problem," Goyal added.
Once the consumers will dial the helpline number, the concerned discom control rooms would dispatch repair teams nearest to the caller's area.
