GHMC: Why Seemandhra voters opted for the TRS
New Delhi, Feb 6: The Telangana Rastriya Samithi took all its opponents to the cleaners by bagging 99 of the 150 seats in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Council Polls.
The victory which has been termed as a Paripoorna Vijayam for the TRS also had another interesting aspect to it. Those originally from Seemandhra too have voted for the TRS and the polling pattern makes this amply clear.
This sort of a landslide victory for the TRS would not have been possible if the people of Seemandhra had not voted for the party.
There are 25 divisions in the GHMC which has a majority of people from Seemandra and the statistics would reveal that they have clearly voted for the TRS thus giving it a thumping majority.
The divisions in which the Seemandra voter is strong are Allwyn Colony, Ameerpet, Sanathnagar, Malkajgiri, Neredmet, Madhapur, Hayathnagar, Kapra, Meerpet, Nagole, Mansurabad, Vanasthalipuram, Hasthinapuram, Saroornagar, Moosarambagh, Santhoshnagar, Attapur, LB Nagar, AS Rao Nagar, Tarnaka, Kukatpally, Kondapur, Chandanagar, Miyapur and Vijayanagar Colony.

They had considered both the Congress and the TRS to be the main culprits. The GHMC poll, which is the first since the bifurcation has proven that the contentious issue of separation has been put behind.
The Information Technology Minister of Telangana, K T Rama Rao acknowledged this fact. He told OneIndia that the TRS in the 20 months of rule had proven that it has not discriminated between the people of the region.
It it this confidence that we have instilled in all the people living in Hyderabad that has earned us this victory.
After the bifurcation of the state there were panic messages that were being spread which had put a lot of people from Seemandhra at a great deal of discomfort. It was being said that once the TRS comes to power in Telangana they would drive out from Hyderabad those persons from Seemandhra.
Rao says that these were just smear campaigns and in the 20 months that the TRS has been in power it has shown that there is no discrimination at all.
