The investigations being conducted into the death of journalist Gauri Lankesh has found similarities with the killing of M M Kalburgi. However another interesting find is that the weapon of choice is also preferred by naxalites.
While there is nothing conclusive in the probe as yet, it must be noted that naxalites too prefer using the country made 7.65 mm pistol in their operations. The autopsy report suggests that the wounds on the body were not inflicted by a conventional weapons. The 7.65 mm pistol is a weapon of choice as it is commonly available. In several operations in the past, naxalites too have used a similar weapons.

Further the probe has also revealed that the suspects had fired at the journalist from a 10 feet distance. The incident took place between the gate and entrance of her home. Gauri Lankesh was shot dead on Tuesday.
