Gang goes on a stabbing spree in Bengaluru, 5 injured

A group of men went berserk on a stabbing spree in Bengaluru on Thursday afternoon creating panic amid injuring at least five people. The unidentified group of men, armed with machetes, were seen flinging the arms at random people walking on the road. The group that was in an auto drove around attacking people even as eyewitnesses ehlped shift victims to hospitals.

The same group attacked unsuspecting victims in Subramanyanagar and Rajajinagar on Thursday noon. Those injured were identified as Sarvesh, Kumar Swamy, Mrutyunajaya, Arvind, Amith and Praveen Kumar.

According to victims' statement on Thursday, at around 2 pm, three persons came in an autorickshaw, as they reached Udaya Park near Subramanyanagar, they assaulted Swamy with a machete and fled the spot. Police suspect that they went ahead to Gayathri Park and attacked the others, who were walking on the road.

Senior officials from the police department said that the registration number of the vehicle was being verified and the CCTV footages were being gathered to identify the miscreants. They suspect that the gang was under influence. "They went around assaulting unsuspecting people for no reason in a random manner. None of the victims know each other and neither do they know the attackers," said an official.

Auto unions near the locality are also being asked to cooperate to identity the vehicle and its owner. Multiple cases have been registered in Subramanyanagar and Rajajinagar police station.
