Ganesh Chaturthi 2017: Modi wishes nation Ganpati Bappa Morya
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi 2017. Modi took the twitter and wished the nation and said, "Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi."

Raising concerns over the environment, Modi had earlier in his 34th edition of Mann Ki Baat urged people to avoid using Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. He also suggested that instead of Plaster of Paris idols, which after immersion cause damage to the aquatic life and environment, people should use eco-friendly idols made of clay.
The nation will observe Ganesh Chaturthi 2017, a Hindu festival that reveres lord Ganesha. The ten-day festival, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chavithi, falls on the fourth day of the Hindu month Bhadrapada, usually in August or September.
On the last day of the festival, the idol is carried in a public procession with music and group chanting, then immersed in a nearby water body.
