Former president Fakhruddin Ali’s family members not on Assam NRC list
Kolkata, July 31: Former president Fakhruddin Ali's family members are not included in Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) list released on Thursday.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mentioned this during her speech at Conclave by CBCI office for Education & Culture and Pilar Fathers (Delhi Province) in New Delhi.
Mamata Banerjee, said, "I am surprised to see that the names of our former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed's family members are not on the NRC Assam list. What else can I say? There are so many people whose names are not there."
A day after the NRC list was released, Ziauddin Ali Ahmed, the nephew of former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed told media persons of his name missing in the list.
"I am the nephew of former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, and my name is missing in the NRC since my father's name is not in the legacy data, we are little worried about it," News 18 quoted Ziauddin Ali Ahmed as saying. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the country's fifth president, from 1974 to 1977.
Fakhruddin Ali's family members are among 40 lakh people who did not find their names in the complete draft Assam NRC list.
