Video: OMG! Rare flying snake rescued in Coimbatore
Chennai, Mar 22: A rare flying snake has been rescued in a village Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district, media reported.
Three foot long rare Sri Lankan flying snake was rescued in the outskirts of Coimbatore by a rescue team. The snake was first spotted by villagers at Kalampalayam village on Monday.
The rare species is usually found in dry zone lowlands and parts of the intermediate climatic zones in Sri Lanka. The reptile was later handed over to forest department.
Flying snake or Chrysopelea is a genus that belongs to the family Colubridae. Flying snakes are mildly venomous.
