Five Indian fishermen from Rameshwaram detained by Sri Lankan Navy
The Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday detained five Indian fishermen belonging to Rameshwaram and seized one mechanised boat near Delft island on Wednesday.
The fishermen were detained for allegedly fishing very close to the Neduntivu island in the Palk Strait, northern Sri Lanka.
Earlier in August, the Sri Lankan Navy apprehended four Tamil Nadu fishermen along with a country boat near Punkudi Island.
On September 12, twelve Indian fishermen, who were apprehended and remanded to Jaffna jail up to September 26, were produced before the court.
