FIR against Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s brother for hurting religious sentiments
A case was filed against Ayazuddin Siddiqui, brother of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, on Monday for allegedly posting a derogatory picture of Lord Shiva on Facebook. The complaint was filed by Bharat Thakur, a Hindu Yuva Vahini activist, The Hindu reported.
Rejecting all charges, Ayazuddin Siddiqui said,''man posted derogatory pic of Lord Shiva,I confronted him about it & wrote you shouldn't share posts that can hurt anyone's religious sentiments. Instead case was filed against me. Charges should be investigated.''
A case was booked under 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth).
The complainant demanded strict action against Ayazuddin to show people "that it is not easy to offend Hindus and it will fetch a deserving punishment of one dares to go down that road," the report further added.
In 2016, Ayazuddin's brother and critically-acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui had to pull out of a Ramleela programme after members of Shiv Sena raised objection. Shiv Sena didn't want a Muslim man to play a character in Ram Leela.
