FIR against Bengali poet for writing against Yogi Adityanath
Arnab Sarkar, a resident of Bagha Jatin colony in Pradhan Nagar area, from a Hindu group filed the complaint with the cyber cell of the Siliguri Police on Monday.
An FIR has been lodged against an aspiring Bengali poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay, 42, who is based in Siliguri for allegedly writing against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Arnab Sarkar, a resident of Bagha Jatin colony in Pradhan Nagar area, and belongs to a Hindu group, filed the complaint with the cyber cell of the Siliguri police on Monday. In his complaint, he stated that the poet allegedly wrote derogatory words that hurt the religious sentiments.
The poet wrote this 12-line poem abhishap or 'curse' on his Facebook page on March 19, the day after the appointment of Yogi Adityanath as UP chief minister. The poem got over 12,000 likes. It has also drew a flood of angry and disturbing comments.
Bandyopadhyay has written lyrics for many popular Bengali films and also won the prestigious Ananda award in 2004.
