It all stands nullified. The Muslim leader who issued a fatwa announcing a Rs 10 lakh bounty for anyone shaving singer, Sonu Nigam's head is not an imam, maulana and has no religious authority. Syed Sha Atef Al Quaderi from West Bengal had issued a fatwa against Sonu Nigam after the latter said that his sleep was being disturbed due to Azaan blaring from loudspeakers.

Quaderi is a priest at the Khanka Sharig in Bagnan, West Bengal and has no religious authority to issue a fatwa. Muslim clerics in West Bengal say that he has been hyped by the media and is not an Islamic scholar.

Quaderi has claimed that he is the 35th descendant of Prophet Mohammad and is also a spiritual leader and social worker. Quaederi, while defending himself told the media that what he issued was not a fatwa. It was just a reward for shaving his head. "I do not know why it was reported that I had issued a fatwa," he said.

He went on to add that Prime Minister Narendra Modi respected the azaan. He quoted an incident during an election rally in West Bengal where Modi stopped his speech when he heard the azaan. He also said even West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee respected the azaan and added that Sonu Nigam must leave the country for showing disrespect.
