Celebrations began in Yogi Adityanath's residence in Panchur in Uttarakhand. Speaking to ANI, retired forest ranger and father of Yogi Adityanath said he always wanted to serve people. ''From the very start he had this aim of serving the people, now that he has become chief minister I'm really very happy,''he said.

Elated on his appointed, Adityanath's sister said,''We remained glued to our TV on Saturday awaiting the news, later we celebrated and burst crackers on the good news when he was elected as UP CM.''

Adityanath will be the fourth Uttar Pradesh CM hailing from Uttarakhand after Govind Ballabh Pant, HN Bahuguna and ND Tiwari. Yogi Adityanath was the youngest member of the 12th Lok Sabha, elected at the age of 26 and has been winning from his constituency since 1998, a seat where his spiritual father Mahant Avaidyanath had won from 1989-98. He is known for his provocative speeches and mass following across the state and never shies away from making controversial remarks, be it about Islam or Pakistan.
