Farmers’ march highlights: Representatives of 21 political parties come together for farmers
New Delhi, Nov 30: Representatives of 21 political parties, including opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Sitaram Yechury, Farooq Abdullah and Sharad Yadav, stood together on the stage at the massive farmers gathering at Jantar Mantar on Friday.
Thousands of farmers are pressing for various demands that include debt relief and remunerative prices for their produce. In addition to this, they are also demanding that a special session of Parliament be convened to discuss issues relating to agrarian distress across the country.
Over 3,500 police personnel were deployed on the route of the march special medical arrangements were in place in Central and New Delhi police districts.

The Economic Survey of India (2017-2018) revealed that real agricultural income has remained constant for the last 4 years. The growth in gross value added (GVA) in agriculture declined from 6.3% in 2016-17 to 2.1% in 2017-18.
