Most exit polls say that Karnataka would head towards a hung assembly. While the India Today-Axis poll gives the Congress 106 to 118, Times Now-Today's Chanakya gives the BJP 120 seats.

How accurate are the exit polls? Let us see how it has shaped out in the past.

Gujarat:

Today's Chanakya had given the BJP 135, while Times Now VMR gave the party 115. The BJP fell one short of the 100 mark, but it was sufficient for the party to form the government in the state.

Punjab:

India TV-CVoter predicted that the AAP would form the government with 59 to 67 seats. News 24-Chanakya and NewsX-MRC said that the Congress and AAP would be in a close fight. The AAP only managed to win 20 seats.

Uttar Pradesh:

The News24-TOday's Chanakya predicted a sweep for the BJP with 267-303 seats. ABP-CSDS had said that the BJP would emerge as the single largest party. The BJP ended up winning 324 seats.

Bihar:

ABP-Nielsen poll had predicted that the 'grand alliance' of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav would get 130 seats. Times Now along with C-Voter gave 122 seats to the 'grand alliance' and 111. The alliance went on to win 178 seats.
