Even Lord Rama and Krishna have indulged in politics, claims Rajnath Singh in Lucknow
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday claimed that politics has been a part of India before Independence adding that even Lord Rama and Krishna were indulged in politics.
"Even Lord Rama and Krishna have done politics. Lord Rama's political objective was to build 'Ram Rajya'. He did politics with ardent devotion," Rajnath claimed in Lucknow.
Rajnath Singh was on a two-day tour to his Parliamentary constituency when he made this remark.
Singh further explained his ideas of Rama's politics and went on to speak on those of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi.
He said, "When politics was in Rama's hand, it became devotion; when with Krishna, it was about logic and strategy; with Gandhi and Subhash, it was power and with Azaad and Ashfaq, it became a means for freedom."
Speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to China, Singh said India wanted to have good relations with all its neighbours and not just China.
Rajnath Singh on Friday said the BJP will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on the issues of development and good governance.
"Good governance and development will be the two issues of our party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections," Singh, who was on a visit to Harihar Dham, told reporters.
