Two soldiers killed as Assam Rifles convoy ambushed in Assam

After extremists attacked the regiment, there has been heavy exchange of gunfire between the two groups in Jairampur area of the district, which borders Assam.

Dispur, Jan 22: Two Assam Rifles jawans were killed in an encounter between the Assam Rifles regiment of the Army and NSCN-K terrorists near Jairampur in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

An Assam Rifles vehicle was attacked by grenades and loud explosions were heard at Barabasti 12th Mile on NH-53 bordering Assam's Tinsukia district, a defence spokesman said.

Earlier, on Jan 16, Two soldiers were killed and eight others injured as militants ambushed a convoy of the Assam Rifles along the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh.
