Kolkata, May 12: It seems that Chiranjeevi episode has been repeated in Jadavpur, West Bengal when actor-turned-Trinamool Congress candidate Dev has been asked to stand in a queue to cast his vote.

Common man, who were waiting at the polling booth for their turns to cast vote, were enraged to see the star who was allegedly trying to break the queue. According to TV news channel, a man asked Dev to wait for his turn, however, the actor was seen arguing with the man. People, who were present at the booth, recalled the Chiranjeevi incident in which the Telugu actor and Congress Union Minister too was stopped and was asked to stand in the queue.

A voter, Kartik, who came from London to cast his vote in Andhra Pradesh, had raised voice against Chiranjeevi and his family inside the polling booth on April 30 when the state had gone to poll.

Kartik said, "Do you need special treatment? You may be a union minister, but you are not a senior citizen. You should not jump the queue with your family."

The situation became more worst for the minister and his family when other voters started clapping. He was forced to walk back and stand in queue. His son Ramcharan Teja, also a star, left the polling station but returned later to vote.

However, Chiranjeevi downplayed the controversy by saying, "I never violate rules. I had just left the queue to see if my name was in voting list. The media is overreacting."

Now, the Tollywood actor faced similar kind of situation. This was not the first time when Dev landed in controversy. During one interview with one regional newspaper, he had said that that too much of media focus on his candidature was making him feel like being raped. He also said one either enjoys rape or shouts against it.

The women's organisation of the CPI(M) lodged a complaint with the EC and sought to take steps against him. Dev later apologised on Twitter, reporteldy after being told to do so by party supremo Mamata Banerjee. Dev has been contesting from Ghatal, West Bengal.
